Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Has The Club's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it's natural for concerns to be asked about his future after another heavy loss versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their 9th defeat in twelve games, marking the club's poorest run after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough night at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I've received a lot of backing from the top,” Slot commented.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and get a victory of course but if you are coaching a team and not doing well then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my situation. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a difficult position but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Conversations with Club Management

When asked to expand on his discussions with the club's leadership, the head coach explained:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful for the squad and to me and those talks happen but they don't phone me all the time of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard conversations we have I feel the belief. But I've not talked to them since this defeat so far so we'll see.”

Recurring Failings and Player Reaction

The manager highlighted recurring shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, specifically poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” the midfielder stated.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to think about it. I’m past feeling anger inside. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the words.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I play for the club I love. I support them, and I’ve seen this club since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a phase of this nature with outcomes this poor.”

Jones concluded, “But we still have the emblem on our chest. And until that badge is removed, we will always battle.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad return to where it needs to be, show everyone again the values of this club and the reason it's called the greatest side in the world.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
