Indian cricket star Shreyas Iyer experienced a lacerated spleen and entered a medical center in Sydney following an awkward fall while attempting a catch during the third one-day international versus Australia, according to team officials.

The 30-year-old sustained the injury on Saturday while fielding to dismiss Alex Carey, with Iyer clutching his side and grimacing in pain after falling onto the SCG turf.

Scans have revealed a laceration injury to the abdominal organ. He is under medical care, in stable condition, and showing improvement.
