A charity drive is aiming to send a Palestinian lullaby to the peak of the festive singles chart. The effort hopes to provide aid to people in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian cultural expression.

A Possibility for Support and an "Surprise Victory"

Renowned figure Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to support Palestinians over the Christmas period. He remarked the potential for an unexpected chart success.

“That would be amazing if that happened, yes,” he commented. “I wouldn't be completely disappointed if it fails to, festive releases are a category of their own.”

Resilient Spirit of Self-Determination

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the adaptation of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's resilient spirit.

“The song holds a profound significance for many individuals,” Barghouti explained. “The essence is that I would prefer a dignified death than spend my life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we want to live a respectful existence that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”

Track's Background and Featured Artists

The song was recorded after a major charity concert held in the autumn. First conceived to be performed and recorded live, the performance was omitted from the lengthy event due to scheduling overruns.

The diverse array of artists appearing on Lullaby features a selection of prominent voices from the music world. All were part of the benefit event, which reportedly raised a significant sum for charitable causes.

Lullaby was crafted by a team of producers and composers. The single blends a mix of the traditional Arabic lyrics with contemporary English verses.

The organizers behind the project have emphasized that their aim is to raise as much as possible for a specific fund. These resources will be distributed to projects in Palestine through an established charity.

“We haven't set a rigid aim,” a representative said. “We will pursue whatever we can get. Naturally, the more the merrier. Every penny goes out to Gaza.”

The situation in the territory was noted for its widespread damage, with a vast majority of property reportedly in ruins or severely impacted.

“Against that backdrop, a couple of million doesn’t make that much difference. But I think what truly matters is first of all spreading knowledge of this plight and demonstrating that another narrative exists.”

The single 'Lullaby' is scheduled for release at the end of the week. Additionally, a complete film of the benefit event will be made accessible to view on a popular streaming site from the 19th of December.
